AUTHORITY FROM GOD

KEY VERSE
“All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”Matthew 28:18

INTRODUCTION

God sent Jesus to earth with a clear and powerful purpose. He gave Him the responsibility to fulfill a mission—to die for the sin of mankind and to destroy the works of Satan. Jesus didn’t come just for salvation; He came to defeat the enemy and to show us how to live with power and authority.

MESSAGE

The Scripture clearly says, “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8). Jesus was sent by the Father as His authorized representative. He spoke God’s Word, performed miraculous works, and demonstrated the power of Heaven on earth.

But here’s the powerful truth: after Jesus’ death and resurrection, He didn’t take that authority back to heaven. Instead, He delegated His authority to us, His followers. Jesus equipped us with the same spiritual power to fulfill His mission on earth. He didn’t leave us to face the great task of reaching the world in our own strength. He empowered us with His own authority.

In Matthew 28:18, Jesus declared:
“All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”

And then He passed that authority on to us:
“As my Father has sent me, even so send I you” (John 20:21).

He didn’t stop there. He made it even clearer in Luke 10:19:
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: And nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

The disciples understood this divine commission. They took that authority and went out to change the world. Despite their past doubts and failures, they became bold, empowered witnesses. The result? The world was turned upside down for God (Acts 17:6).

When the disciples went forth, they didn’t do it on their own. The Lord worked with them, confirming His Word with signs and wonders (Mark 16:20). This is the same promise for you today. When you walk in the authority of God, He will back you up with His manifested power.

APPLICATION

So, how do you become a person of authority? The authority you carry doesn’t come from degrees or ordination. It begins and ends in God alone. Your spiritual credentials come directly from the Father—Jehovah God.

When you step out to do the works of God, you do so by His authority, the same authority that commanded Joshua to cross the river and conquer Jericho. This same power is at work in you today. You are authorized to do the proof-producing works of God, whether that means casting out demons, healing the sick, or boldly proclaiming His Word.

CONCLUSION

As you walk in God’s authority, remember that you have the spiritual credentials to do the works of God. It’s not your strength or wisdom; it’s His power working through you. Just as the disciples saw great success by depending on the Lord’s authority, you too can experience His power and transform the world around you.

Step out in boldness today, knowing that God’s authority is upon you to accomplish His will!

PRACTICAL REFLECTION

Reflect on the authority you have been given in Christ. Ask the Lord to help you step out in faith, knowing that you have the power to accomplish His work on earth. What areas of your life or ministry need the manifestation of God’s authority today?

SIMPLE SUMMARY

Jesus was sent to destroy the works of the devil, and He has delegated His authority to us to continue that mission. You have the same authority, and by it, you can do the works of God and experience His power in your life and ministry.

PRAYER POINTS

  1. Father, thank You for the authority You’ve given me through Jesus Christ. Help me walk boldly in that authority.
  2. Lord, empower me to do Your works with the same power and authority that You gave to the disciples.
  3. Lord, I receive the spiritual credentials to perform proof-producing works in Your name.
