KEY VERSE
“For the Lord your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over… That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the Lord your God for ever.” — Joshua 4:23-24
INTRODUCTION
Some people may try to explain away the miracle of the Jordan River parting as a natural phenomenon. But when we examine the facts closely, it becomes clear that this was no ordinary event. The precise timing of the miracle was foretold, it happened exactly when the priests stepped into the water, the ground was dry when the waters rolled back, and the waters only returned once all of Israel had passed over. There is no natural explanation for the fulfillment of all of these events.
MESSAGE
Joshua makes it abundantly clear who performed this miraculous act and why it happened:
“For the Lord your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over… That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the Lord your God for ever.” (Joshua 4:23-24)
God moved miraculously, but the people had to act in faith to experience it. God still works miracles today, but you must believe and act upon His Word to see the manifestation of His power.
Have you ever noticed that in a church where there is no belief in divine healing, no one experiences healing? Or in a place where the miraculous is downplayed, the people rarely witness the spectacular move of God? This is a powerful truth we must grasp: belief precedes manifestation.
The Apostle Paul emphasized that both belief and confession are essential for salvation:
“But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:8-10)
Notice that belief and confession go hand in hand. You must confess and believe to be saved—and the same principle applies to every other spiritual experience. Salvation, healing, deliverance, and every miracle you seek from God come by believing and confessing His Word.
The people of Israel believed God’s Word, and by their actions, they confessed their faith in His promises. To enter into the miraculous, they had to believe and act on God’s Word. They didn’t wait for the waters to part before stepping in; they began advancing into the Jordan River by faith.
The same is true for you today. If you want to experience the miraculous in your life—whether in healing, deliverance, or provision—you must believe and step out in faith. Miracles are activated when you act on God’s Word, believing that He will fulfill His promises.
CONCLUSION
In order to enter into the miraculous, you must believe and act on God’s Word. Step forward in faith, just as Israel did, and you will see the hand of God move mightily in your life. The miraculous is not for the faint-hearted, but for those who believe and take bold steps in faith.
PRACTICAL REFLECTION
What areas of your life are you waiting to see the miraculous? Is it healing, provision, or breakthrough? Step out in faith today—believe God’s Word, confess His promises, and watch Him move mightily in your life.
