STRAYING INTO THE WILDERNESS

KEY VERSE:
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” — Isaiah 53:6 (KJV)

INTRODUCTION
There are many reasons why believers pass through desert experiences. Sometimes, it is God who leads us there for growth or preparation. But at other times, we find ourselves in the wilderness because we’ve strayed from His path. Even then, God’s purpose is not to abandon us—but to bring us back.

MESSAGE

  1. Straying Is a Human Tendency
The Bible says, “All we like sheep have gone astray.” (Isaiah 53:6). Like sheep, we often wander—seeking our own way, ignoring God’s leading. But even when we go off course, God does not give up on us.
  2. Jesus, the Good Shepherd
Jesus is called the Good Shepherd who knows His sheep and lays down His life for them (John 10:14–15). When one sheep goes missing, He leaves the ninety-nine and goes after the one who strayed (Matthew 18:11–14). That’s how precious you are to Him!
  3. You Will Not Die in the Wilderness
If sin or poor decisions have led you into a spiritual wilderness, know this: God is not willing that you should perish there. Cry out to Him. The Shepherd of your soul will rescue you. He will bring you back, restore your soul, and guide you on the right path again.
  4. Provision in the Shepherd’s Path
When you follow the Good Shepherd, all your needs will be met. As David declared in Psalm 23, the Lord will lead you beside still waters, restore your soul, and walk with you even in the darkest valleys.

CONCLUSION
Even if you have strayed far, Jesus has not forgotten you. He is seeking you today. Don’t remain in guilt or shame—cry out to Him, and He will lead you back to green pastures. Your wilderness is not your end. The Shepherd is calling you home.

PRACTICAL REFLECTION
Are you walking in your own way, or following the Shepherd’s voice? If you’ve strayed, today is the day to return. Confess your wrong turn, and trust Him to restore you.

SIMPLE SUMMARY
If you’ve gone the wrong way in life, Jesus wants to bring you back. He is the Good Shepherd, and He will take care of you when you follow Him.

MEMORY VERSE:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” — Psalm 23:1
