KEY VERSE:
“Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them…”
— Joshua 1:2 (KJV)
INTRODUCTION:
Crises are never comfortable, yet they often serve as divine catalysts for transition. In the coming days, we will explore the proof-producing power of God demonstrated through Israel’s journey from the wilderness into Canaan—the land of promise. This journey began with a crisis, but it ended with conquest.
MESSAGE:
- The End of One Era, the Beginning of Another
The book of Deuteronomy ends with the death of Moses, Israel’s great leader. The book of Joshua opens with God addressing Joshua and calling him to leadership. The transition from Moses to Joshua was marked by grief, but it was also the doorway to a new era. God made it clear: “Moses my servant is dead.” The past was honored, but it was time to move forward. - Crisis as a Launchpad
For Joshua, the crisis of Moses’ death was painful. He had faithfully served as Moses’ assistant for years (Exodus 24:12–18; Numbers 13:16). The loss was deeply personal. Yet, it was through this very crisis that God ushered Joshua into his divine assignment. Often, what feels like an end is simply a divine setup for a new beginning. - The Call to Arise
God’s instruction to Joshua was clear: “Now therefore arise.” It was time to stop mourning and start moving. There comes a moment when you must rise from the ashes of grief, disappointment, or broken expectations and step into the next chapter God has written for your life.
CONCLUSION:
The purpose of crisis is not destruction—it is redirection. God uses crisis moments to shift, shape, and position His people for greater works. If you’re facing a difficult season right now, consider that it may be God’s way of saying, “Arise, it’s time for the next assignment.”
PRACTICAL REFLECTION:
What area of your life do you need to rise from? Is it the pain of loss, the sting of betrayal, or the weight of the past? Identify it, release it, and step into what God has next.
SIMPLE SUMMARY:
God often uses crisis to end one chapter and begin another. Just as Joshua rose from mourning Moses to lead Israel into the Promised Land, you too must rise and embrace the new season God is ushering you into.
