KEY VERSE:
“And my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19 (KJV)
INTRODUCTION
One of the greatest assurances every believer has is that God not only guides His children but also provides for them. When you follow His divine direction, you will never lack what is needed to fulfill His purpose. The story of Elijah during Israel’s famine vividly reveals this truth: Where God guides, He provides.
MESSAGE
- Provision at Cherith — The God of Unusual Supply
During a severe famine, God instructed Elijah to go to the brook Cherith. In obedience, Elijah went, and the Bible records:
“So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord… and the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning and in the evening, and he drank of the brook” (1 Kings 17:5–6).
God used ravens—unclean, unlikely creatures—to feed His prophet. His provision may come in unexpected ways, but His faithfulness never fails. Do not limit God by your reasoning. He can use what others despise to bless you.
- The Shift to Zarephath — Obedience Unlocks the Next Level
When the brook dried up, God spoke again:
“Arise, get thee to Zarephath… behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee” (1 Kings 17:9).
Elijah had learned the secret of divine sufficiency—being in God’s place at God’s time. He didn’t question God or complain; he moved immediately. God’s guidance often shifts with seasons. What sustained you yesterday may not sustain you today. Learn to move when God says move.
- The Widow’s Obedience — Miracles Follow Faith
In Zarephath, Elijah met a widow with just a handful of meal and a little oil. Yet, when she obeyed the prophetic instruction to give first, her household entered into supernatural abundance:
“The barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail…” (1 Kings 17:16).
Obedience in scarcity brings multiplication. When we give God our little in faith, He turns it into more than enough.
- Divine Direction in Difficult Times
God still speaks today, especially in times of crisis. When you face financial or personal challenges, your survival depends not on the economy but on divine instruction. Listen for His voice. Where He sends you, His provision awaits you there.
CONCLUSION
You will never lack when you follow God’s leading. He guided Elijah step by step, and at every point of obedience, provision flowed. The same God is guiding you today. Trust His voice, follow His instruction, and your brook will never run dry.
PRACTICAL REFLECTION
Are you still where God told you to be, or are you holding on to yesterday’s instruction? Fresh obedience brings fresh provision.
